Halloween at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris

This year I spent Halloween in Paris, and what better way to spend it than by having a walk around one of the biggest and most famous cemeteries in Paris –  Père-Lachaise. Some might find it strange, but I’m the kind of girl who likes to wander around old cemeteries, the beauty and decay provide a great background for reflection.

It was mournful yet poetic, also due to all the flowers left here by people remembering their dead on Toussaint – All saints day.

But after dusk magic happens.

20 minutes before closing time there were barely any people left, and as the time moved on I worried I might get locked in at the cemetery for the night. Thankfully it didn’t happen, though the cemetery is large enough, if lost one could wander around for days…Père-Lachaise Cemetery, Paris by ReverinePère-Lachaise Cemetery, Paris by Reverine

R.I.P.

Despite it’s slight creepiness I fell in love with this place and I hope to return and explore more of it next time…
